Context
SEMS is an enterprise business suite. I work on the Procure-to-Pay module with Laravel, inside an existing codebase.
I first joined E-Solution for a final-year internship from February to July 2024, on fleet-management submodules. Since August 2024, I have been on a permanent contract on the Procure-to-Pay module.
Constraints
- The work fits into an existing codebase.
- Changes go through the team's GitLab CI/CD chain and Docker environments.
- No public link is available for this product.
Decisions
Stay within the suite's conventions
New features follow the Laravel conventions already in place in SEMS.
Trade-offLess freedom to experiment, but a codebase the rest of the team can maintain more easily.
GitLab CI/CD and Docker as the base
I contribute to CI/CD processes and deployment environments with GitLab and Docker.
Trade-offThe delivery pace follows the team's chain.
Fleet-management submodules
During the final-year internship (February to July 2024), I designed fleet-management submodules in SEMS, before moving to the Procure-to-Pay module in August 2024.
Trade-offThe scope extends beyond the initial module, with more business rules to understand.
Method
Specify
The feature is scoped inside the suite's conventions, with the business cases and the team's acceptance criteria.
Orchestrate
The breakdown follows the team's pace; automated checks are those of the GitLab chain.
Verify
Code review and GitLab CI before every integration, in the team's Docker environments.
